01 Longfellow\u2019s Greenhouses<\/a> | Manchester<\/strong><\/p>\n

In its 21 greenhouses, Longfellow\u2019s grows thousands of plants, including over 800 kinds of perennials and 200 types of herbs\u00a0and scented geraniums, along with vegetable seedlings and other plants. Longfellow\u2019s also serves as a community space, hosting farmers\u2019 markets, arts and crafts shows, and fundraisers, as well as demonstrations and classes on successful gardening practices.<\/p>\n

02 Snell Family Farm<\/a> | Buxton\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the family since 1926, the farm gives customers a ten-percent discount on pre-purchased goods, and when they buy credit beforehand, clients can shop without a transaction throughout the season. Snell\u2019s also features baked goods and a pick-your-own raspberry program, among other offerings.<\/p>\n

03 Skillins Greenhouses<\/a> |\u00a0Brunswick, Falmouth, and Cumberland<\/strong><\/p>\n

With a wide-ranging selection, three locations, and a helpful staff, many Maine gardens have depended on Skillins since the family business was founded in 1885. Skillins\u2019s interest in community reaches beyond gardening, too, as demonstrated by its frequent art shows, and it holds courses in painting, planting, and floral decoration.<\/p>\n

04 Estabrook\u2019s<\/a> | Yarmouth and Kennebunk <\/strong><\/p>\n

Estabrook\u2019s is known for its diverse seedling options and friendly staff. A free Estabrook\u2019s mobile app allows shoppers to earn rewards and peruse the plant catalog, which includes lengthy plant descriptions and care requirements. Though closed for the winter, Estabrook\u2019s Yarmouth flagship location reopens in March; its Kennebunk store in April.<\/p>\n

05 Johnny\u2019s Selected Seeds<\/a> | Winslow\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

In order to deliver the highest-quality seeds and tools, Johnny\u2019s tests all its varieties and equipment at a research farm in Albion before they\u2019re sold. Many of its products are available online, and\u00a0its website\u2019s extensive Grower\u2019s Library features instructional videos, planning tools, and various guides and charts that provide informational resources for people looking to expand their expertise.<\/p>\n

06 Mainescape Nursery and Garden Shop <\/a>|\u00a0Blue Hill<\/strong><\/p>\n

Originally a landscape company, Mainescape now includes a full- service garden center and carries an assortment of home goods, as well as produce, baked goods, gardening supplies, and toys for pets.
